Find Healing, Clarity, and Hope After the End of a Relationship
Ending a relationship, whether through divorce, a separation, or a breakup, is one of the most disorienting and painful experiences a person can go through. Even when it’s the right decision, it can bring grief, anger, fear, guilt, and a loss of identity all at once. You don’t have to go through it alone.
Alisha Kingsley, LMFT, offers individual divorce, separation, and breakup therapy in Santa Clarita, Los Angeles, and online, helping you process what happened, understand what you’re feeling, and gently reconnect with who you are on the other side of it.

You Might Be Feeling…
- Overwhelmed by grief for a relationship or a future that no longer exists
- Anxious about what comes next: finances, co-parenting, living alone, dating again
- Angry, betrayed, or stuck replaying what went wrong
- Relieved, and then guilty for feeling relieved
- Like you’ve lost your sense of who you are outside the relationship
- Isolated, even when people around you care
If any of this sounds familiar, therapy can help you move through this chapter instead of just around it.
A Holistic Approach to Divorce & Breakup Healing
Divorce and separation don’t just live in the mind, they show up in the body, in sleep, in relationships, and in how safe you feel in the world. Alisha’s approach addresses the whole picture, drawing on a blend of modalities tailored to what you need:
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) — to understand and care for the different parts of you carrying grief, anger, fear, or guilt
- EMDR & Brainspotting — to process the emotional and even physical impact of betrayal, conflict, or loss
- Somatic and mindfulness practices — to calm a nervous system that’s been living in fight-or-flight
- Nature and Walk & Talk Therapy — for clients who process best while moving and outdoors
- Attachment-focused work — to understand relationship patterns and lay the groundwork for healthier connection in the future
Every plan is built around you. There is no single timeline for healing.
How Divorce & Breakup Therapy Can Help, at Every Stage
Before the decision. Sorting through ambivalence, fear, and what you truly want — without judgment or pressure toward any outcome.
During the transition. Coping with logistics, emotional whiplash, and the day-to-day stress of separating a shared life.
After the divorce or breakup. Processing grief, rebuilding identity and confidence, and learning to trust yourself — and others — again.
Co-parenting and family adjustment. Managing conflict, communication, and your own emotional regulation while parenting through and after separation.
Rebuilding and moving forward. Understanding relationship patterns, healing attachment wounds, and preparing for healthier relationships ahead.
Why Work With Me?
Ending a relationship is one of life’s most significant stressors, and it deserves real support. Alisha’s practice is:
- Judgment-free. Whatever led to the end of your relationship, you’ll be met with compassion, not evaluation.
- Rooted in the whole person. Healing addresses mind, body, and spirit and not just the thoughts on the surface.
- Practical and grounded. Alongside emotional support, you’ll build real tools for managing anxiety, communication, and decision-making.
- Paced to you. Some people want to dive into the emotional work right away; others need time to simply stabilize. Both are welcome here.
“I had the pleasure of working with Alisha and was always so impressed with her knowledge and compassionate approach. She is intuitive and uses a variety of the latest modalities and techniques.” — Dr. Niki Savage Malek

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need therapy for my divorce or breakup?
If the end of your relationship is affecting your sleep, mood, work, or sense of self or if you simply don’t want to go through it without support, therapy can help. You don’t need to be “struggling enough” to justify starting.
How is divorce therapy different from couples counseling? Divorce and separation therapy is individual work focused on you: your emotions, your adjustment, and your future — not on repairing the relationship. It’s a space to process the end of the relationship on your own terms. (If you and a partner are looking to work on your relationship instead, learn more about Couples Therapy.)
Can therapy help even if the divorce isn’t final yet?
Yes. Many clients begin therapy while still deciding, during a separation, or in the middle of legal proceedings. Support during the transition itself is often when it’s needed most.
I initiated the breakup — can therapy still help me?
Absolutely. Even when you’re the one who chose to leave, it’s common to feel grief, guilt, relief, and self-doubt all at once. Those feelings deserve space too.
Will therapy help with co-parenting conflict?
Yes. Alisha helps clients develop communication strategies, navigate conflict with an ex-partner, and stay emotionally regulated for their children’s sake even in difficult co-parenting dynamics.
How long does divorce or breakup therapy typically take?
There’s no set timeline. Some clients benefit from a few months of focused support during the transition; others continue longer-term work on identity, patterns, and future relationships. Your pace is respected throughout.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Alisha offers in-person sessions at her Santa Clarita and West Los Angeles/Santa Monica offices, as well as secure telehealth sessions for clients anywhere in California.
You Don’t Have to Go Through This Alone
